News - 2008

November

Florida's first foal Wiarpo (formerly named Wyoming E) by Wind Dancer has completed his 30 Day Test at Redefin.

Due to Robert's busy work schedule and the short winter days, we have decided to put High Bray in training with our old friend Seamus Mullins.  He has settled in very well.  Below is a lovely photograph of him under Jimmy Derham cantering alongside Robert on Student Loan.  Robert was  enjoying his first day in the saddle for six months and I bet he will be sore tomorrow!

We are delighted for Florida - both her colts have now Licensed in Germany.  San Diego licensed with the Meckelnburg PKS in the Pinto book.  He will now be performance tested and can then enter into the warmblood book.

AmaZulu has been sold and is heading off to a fabulous dressage home.

The foals are weaned - Sandhurst is still with us until the New Year when he will go into quarantine before his long journey to Australia.  He will be residing at Narthethong Equestrian Park in Perth.

Florianne's sire De Niro is the Hanoverian Stallion of the Year 2008. With this annual award, the Hanoverian Society honours important breeding stallions.

Depressingly winter is coming but we had a couple of sunny days over the weekend so took a few photos!

September

Good news from Germany!

Florida's 2006 coloured colt San Diego E (by Sancisco) was chosen by the Mecklenburg  for licensing at Redefin.

San Diego as a foal

It is a quiet time at present - we are waiting for the Oldenburg Verband to come over to inspect and brand the foals - then they will be ready to wean!

August

Judged by Carl Hester, Bangalore C was Reserve Champion 2yo Dressage horse at the BEF Finals at Addington.  As his breeder, we are incredibly proud and his owner is equally delighted!

Fairfax C went to her first party and attended the BEF Futurity at Catherston.  She was awarded a First Premium with very nice comments and a good mark of 8.40.  She found the whole day out incredibly exciting!

We are delighted to announce that Sandhurst C has been sold and he will be travelling later on in the year to his new home in Perth, Australia!   It will be exciting to hear all about his new life Down Under!

Firebird C has been sold to an eventing home.

AmaZulu C was presented for Grading with the KWPN at Wellington on Monday 11th August with judges from Holland coming over for the inspection.

Much to our delight, she was awarded the prestigious "Ster" predicate.

Conditional jockey Jack Salmon has been working High Bray - they have a nice partnership going and we are all looking forward to his first run in the  Autumn.

High Bray is back working after bruising a foot.  He has come back from his break with lots of enthusiasm for the game and we are delighted with him.

High Bray - a different horse to the one we bought last October!

July

We are delighted that our 2006 colt Bangalore C by OO Seven (half brother to AmaZulu C) was the BEF Champion 2yo Dressage horse at The Grange on Friday much to his owner Jo Yeoman's delight!  He had a score of 8.90 and headed a class of 9.  He was also the third highest score of the day so you can imagine we are ever so slightly pleased that he has flown the flag for Camrose once again!

We have had a few trials and tribulations this breeding season - we have had many problems obtaining chilled semen from Holland for AmaZulu.  We have had no semen turning up, semen arriving without health papers which has given us plenty of headaches.  We have now called it a day as it is getting too late for us now and she will now continue her education.  We will be looking forward to her coming out under saddle - we will come back to the joys of breeding with her in due course.  Some exciting times ahead!

The sun has brought the camera out again so the photos galleries have been up-dated again!

Firebird

Some up to date photos of the foals have been added to the photo galleries.

On 13th July, the seven year old Sancisco  convincingly won the Mecklenburg Dressage Championships with three victories in the saddle for Ronald Lüders.

On 7th July, Sancisco and Ronald Lüders were in excellent form at the Brandenburg National Championships on the grounds of the Neustadt/Dosse National State Stud. They won all three of their advanced level dressage classes up to Prix St Georges level.

Both the foals have been DNA tested for colour.

We are delighted that Fairfax is Homozygous Black (EE) which means she cannot produce a chestnut foal.

Sandhurst is also Homozygous Black (EE) as well as being a true black as he is Non Agouti (aa).

June

Sandhurst has been selected to attend the Stars of the Future Auction at Addington Manor on Tuesday 5th of August.

The first presentation to the public will be held in the afternoon with the auction taking place in the evening at 7pm.

More details are available at Brightwells Best Of British Foal Auction

Good news - Florida has scanned in foal to Sir Oldenburg and Florianne has scanned in foal to Sancisco.

A few new photos of the foals, AmaZulu and Firebird taken early evening.

AmaZulu

Firebird

Firebird should really be in the show ring at present as she is looking fabulous, however, lack to time is the old enemy!

It is amazing how much the foals grow when you dont see them for a few days!  Sandhurst and Fairfax are both growing like weeds!

Fairfax - 6 weeks old

Sandhurst - 2 months old

Dinah managed to get away to Ireland for 6 days for a break.  However, it was a bit of a "busman's holiday" as she was staying at the fabulous Mount Juliet hotel in Co Kilkenny which is situated within the grounds of the famous Ballylinch Stud!

May

After much consideration, it has been decided that Firebird is for sale to an approved home only.  We have always limited our numbers and will continue to do so however hard the decision is.

A selection of photos of the foals taken over the last week or so!

Fairfax is growing quickly and certainly seems to love life!  Fairfax also now has her own page.

Fairfax aged 2 weeks.

Sandhurst now has his own page.

He has been showing us in the field that he has the ability for the dressage arena!

We took a few photos last weekend, but as usual, there are never enough hours in the day, hence they are only being added today!

Fairfax at one week old.

Sandhurst at three weeks old.  It is our policy that we don't keep the colts, so sadly Sandhurst will be for sale.

Deep King is entered for Newton Abbot next week and will run depending on the ground.  We give him a pop just to keep his eye in!

A few photos of Fairfax at 3 days old.

We have called her Adora at home, however, she already is being called "Dora The Explorer" - my nephews would be proud of me!

April

We have named our Sir Oldenburg filly Fairfax.

Our latest arrival appeared at 3.45am on Sunday morning - we were delighted with a coloured filly by Sir Oldenburg (Sion) out of our lovely mare Florida.

Deep King & High Bray are working well at home.  Deep King is pencilled in to run at Newton Abbot on 13 May.

Sandhurst grows more beautiful by the day and Firebird is growing!

Florianne and Sandhurst enjoying life!

Our Sancisco colt has been named Sandhurst.  He thoroughly enjoyed his first day in the field on Thursday when we had some dry and sunny weather.

Sandhurst - 4 days old

Our new arrival ventured out today as it was lovely and sunny.  We still don't have an offical name for him but he is now called Sydney at home!

Florianne produced a beautiful black colt by Sancisco (Sandro Hit)  in the early hours of Sunday morning.  Mother and baby are doing well and we are delighted with him!

AmaZulu has wintered well and we have some exciting times ahead with her now that she is rising three!

Firebird is now a year old and the sunny weather brought the camera out!

The mares are both due to foal this month - they are very well and enjoy the sunshine when we have some!

We are getting busy with the racehorses - Deep King is looking to run at the beginning of May and High Bray is now cantering although no concrete plans have been made for him at the moment.

March

A great day at the PSHP stallion show at Moulton College on Easter Monday which saw Dinah showing Sambertino for Flax Lion Stud.  A jolly enjoyable day for all concerned!

Keeping two vastly different horses (a 13-year old ‘chaser and a 7 year-old hurdler) fit, properly looked after and interested is something we are particularly keen on.  Neither horse ever does the same thing 2 days running and both spend the maximum amount of time out of their boxes.   We do a lot of school work with them to help keep them supple and we also loose jump them which as well as being very beneficial is something they thoroughly enjoy doing!

High Bray jumping neatly and carefully

Deep King true to form taking a "flyer"

February

The nice weather is a Godsend and all the horses are enjoying the sun on their backs.  Deep King is now starting cantering and High Bray is going well and thoroughly enjoying his work - it shall be rather interesting when he starts cantering - I think we will need to "sit tight"!

Exciting news from Germany!  Florida's first foal Wyoming E by Wind Dancer (Weltruhm - Argentan I) licensed with the Mecklenburg Verband this week.  He was bred by Florida's breeder Elizabeth Ernflykt in Sweden.

  January 2008

After being under the weather myself over the holiday period AND the terrible wet weather, finally a few up-dated photos!

Albeit looking rather scruffy and hairy - AmaZulu and Firebird enjoyed the sun on their backs yesterday.

High Bray has improved no end since his arrival in November.  He has put on condition and is back in work and thoroughly enjoying life.

Deep King is working well - there is no hurry with him as he will not race until the Spring and when the ground dries up.

Florianne and Florida are both well - they are looking a little rotund and we are looking forward to their foals in April.

December

We have a fabulous new broodmare at Sycamore Farm who is not "sporting colour"!

St Pr St Florianne is by the fabulous stallion De Niro.

Regazza Gazelle has been sold and has gone to the same fantastic home as Rozemarijn.

November

Deep King has finished racing for 2007 but enjoyed a day out with the Royal Artillery at their opening meet at Larkhill.

Firebird is now 7 months old, weaned and growing up very fast!

High Bray has been with us just over a week and is settling in well.
